EMMELINE | NEWBORN | Life, Styled

When I walk into a shoot I never know exactly what I'm going to get, and with a newborn shoot, its even less predictable. Will the baby be awake or asleep? Cry all the time or want to feed all day? So I allow plenty of time for ALL of this in my shoots. It takes all of the stress away from the mum, if we can happily put the camera down for as long as needed to make sure baby is happy again.

But with divine little Emmeline we didn't need any of that extra time, because she was officially the dream baby. She slept, she woke, she lay quietly looking up at my camera, and was passed between mum and dad while happily staring into their eyes. Not all babies will be like that, and thats absolutely fine, but once in a while, it makes my job even more of a joy. Thanks Emmeline!

It always makes a newborn shoot a bit more special when you're the GODMOTHER of the newborn in question (for the record this has only ever happened twice in my career, so it's definitely a special occasion!).

Charlotte and Steve's third baby girl, the delicious Imogen, arrived just six short weeks before they packed up their lives here in KL to head back to the UK. So the shoot was a quick one, snuck in between packers arriving and goodbye parties, but I'm so glad we managed to do it - if we hadn't I wouldn't be able to sneak peeks of these pictures every time I miss them all.

The BRANNAN FAMILY | AT HOME | Life, Styled

Rarely do I walk into a home and feel so much natural love from the moment I walk in through the door. These guys were such a beautiful family to photograph, not only for the obvious aesthetic reasons that you'll see below, but also because there was so. much. joy. in the house. They were natural and happy and relaxed, which is some feat, when I have my camera literally inches from their noses in some cases. To top it all off, these two children were so brilliantly well-behaved and polite. What a truly lovely way for me to spend a saturday morning.

The HERTER Family | At home | Life, styled

As so often happens, this family had their shoot not long before they left us for another country. I love that so many people choose to document their time here in Asia with a shoot in their family home. So many of us expats will have many homes over our lifetime, and I often think how sad it is that our young children won't remember the places that were so integral to their lives at one point. With any luck, these photographs will help these four amazing children remember the magical time that was their life here in Malaysia, well after the memories start to fade.
